John P. Thayer Sr. founded Thayer Construction in 1965. The Georgia based company has been in business for more than 60 years. In the beginning, Thayer focused on residential construction. After much success, they expanded to form a commercial division in 1970. Thayer completed Wynnton Towers, a seven– story high-rise apartment complex, which was a one of a kind in Columbus. Today, Thayer-Bray prides itself in having extensive experience in multi-family and commercial construction. This experience sets them apart from other local builders in the area.

In 1992, After graduating Auburn University with a degree in Building Science, Philip Thayer joined the company with the goal of expanding. The construction of additional apartment complexes, shopping centers, restaurants, industrial facilities and numerous residential homes broadened the company’s knowledge of the construction process.

In 1992, After graduating Auburn University with a degree in Building Science, Philip Thayer joined the company with the goal of expanding. In 2013, Thayer Construction made an important announcement regarding the expansion of their team with the addition of William Bray, an Auburn University graduate with a degree in Building Science. This move marked the formation of Thayer-Bray Construction, a strategic collaboration between Thayer Construction and Bray Building Corp. William Bray, who was the president of Bray Building at the time, brought his expertise and leadership to the new joint venture, combining the strengths of both companies in the construction industry. This partnership brings more than 75 years of combined experience in the construction industry. William has tried and true processes that have shown proven success in multiple industries. His expertise in commercial sectors has merged seamlessly with Thayer’s experience in the multi-family industry.

J.P. Thayer joined the company in 2024 upon moving back to the area after working for a large multi-family contractor in Atlanta, GA. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Building Science in 2020. He has worked on fast-paced multi-family jobs and understands
what creates a successful development project.

Thayer-Bray emphasizes transparency and collaboration, which is great for fostering strong relationships with developers. Keeping open lines on communication throughout a project is key to addressing concerns, ensuring alignment and achieving successful outcomes.

A graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Building Construction, Philip has led projects across a wide range of sectors, with extensive experience in the multifamily market. His leadership extends beyond the jobsite—Philip has served on numerous community boards, contributing his insight and dedication to the growth and success of the region. She attended the University of Alabama, where she developed a strong foundation in communication and brand strategy. At Thayer-Bray Construction and Thayer Properties, Ansley leads all marketing initiatives—from elevating the company’s digital presence to crafting campaigns that highlight its commitment to quality, service, and community.
